It just wouldn't be the unofficial "Buy Your Beatles Records All Over Again" Day if I didn't share my favorite Beatles tune with all of you.
No matter how many times I've heard "A Day In The Life", there is always something there that my ears seem to be discovering, as if for the first time. No song paints such vivid cinematic images in the mind, either. Both Lennon and McCartney combine to create a song that works as its own disparate narrative, with two halves seemingly joined at random creating a quite complementary union that succeeds at creating its own universe.
Listen to the song and you step into the very universe of which Lennon once sang (on "Strawberry Fields Forever, of course) "nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about."
The idea that forty years have passed since the band played their last note together is quite staggering when you listen to the music. In a world where we are in a constant rush to replace that which came only years (or weeks, as the case may be) earlier, the Beatles remain untouchable. Each generation brings a new wave of fans and, with today's release of The Beatles' own version of "Rock Band", even more fans will be brought into the fold.
Long after "Rock Band" fades from the national consciousness, replaced by the next wave of interactive gaming, the Beatles will remain, for, while they may not be bigger than Christianity (although some would certainly disagree), they are bigger than just about everything else.

I've never heard just the vocals to this track, thanks for sharing this track. I got to see Paul in concert recently and it was quite an amazing thing as well.
